Metrovick CIE 003 crosses 071 class at Rathdrum

RAIL 08 PHOTO

This is Rathdrum where an unidentified 071 class, hauling the afternoon Rosslaire-Dublin, is crossing the down ammonia hauled by 003. It was a regular crossing point for the ammonia; Wicklow was also another popular point. Note that the ammonia is stopped on the up line platform and also the most convenient for passengers since the villiage of Rathdrum is on this side. I am not sure why the signalman routed the passenger onto the down platform, making the passengers have to haul themselves over the attractive footbridge. Perhaps he was showing off his reversible signalling!
