073 approaches Booterstown station
RAIL 10 PHOTO
This was a favourite spot of mine when we lived in Booterstown. It is taken from the footbridge near Booterstown station, looking south towards Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire. The train is the up Rosslaire, frequently in the charge of 071 class locos. The loco looks clean and the infamous orange livery works well. DSE tells me that the white patch visible on the opposite line is known by permanent way men as a mucky spot. This section of line is part of the electrificed DART system - I don't think the overhead line equipment detracts from the picture too much.
The lake on the right of the train is part of Blackrock park; the caravans in the distance belonged to a visiting circus, frequent users of the corporation's plot of land opposite Blackrock College.
