Waterford yard with 043s arriving in charge of 0740 to Heuston
RAIL 22 PHOTO
Ireland rail enthusiasts have been fortunate in recent years for the abundance of older equipment, including motive power and signalling. Both are evident in this shot from 16 May 1986, where 043 departs Waterford in charge of 0740 to Heuston. The rolling stock, consisting of air-comditioned mark 2s, looks quite long as it snakes into of the yard. The engine on the right, 232, is another Metropolitan-Vickers production. Note the 's' on both engines, indicating they are equipped with apparatus to read the CTC (centrallized traffic control).
