IRRS Inchicore works visit with 019 and 028 on shed

12 JULY 1980

There was a great buzz during an Irish Railway Records Society works visit. Normally, it was very difficult to see anything happening in Inchicore, even when passing by train. The main sheds were well away from the running lines, but at least you might glimpse a few numbers as you passed. On this occasion theer were two 'A' class engines on shed; the engines on the right of the picture were withdrawn 'B' class Sulzer engines, forming a sound barrier for local residents. I wonder if that tamper is still operating? Note the good behavious of enthusiasts, and the fact they were allowed to pass through the main running shed area.
