053 arrives at Gorey with mark IIs, September 1988
Tribute to CIE's 'A' class
The 'A' class was no stranger to the Wexford line, although they were usually assigned to passenger trains south of Arklow (north of Arklow they were responsible for Ammonia and fertiliser trains to Shelton Abbey). The 1989 CIE working timetable reveals that 2 x 141 class was allocated to the Rosslaire passenger services, although 001 class members continued to operate it. This is loco 053 again, previously featured in my gallery at Inchicore and Hazelhatch. Notice the driver about to surrender the single line token.
